Read the Book of Job carefully. In chapter 41, the creature Leviathan is presented. Now, for a reason I am unaware of, it's usually said to be a sea creature. But read verses 18-21and it says that Leviathan breathes fire. Three guesses what it really is. Falconer, I've heard that the book of Job should chronologically be placed before Noah's flood. Have you heard anything about that?

on a slightly different point, I think part of the problem is, show most people in the modern world a picture of a serpent like mythical creature and they will automatically call it a dragon, whether it's a wyvern, drake or a Leviathan or any other variant and i suppose something similar has gone on for centuries so we will never really know what someone means from ancient texts when they say leviathan or dragon or monster etc... because they may have said dragon when it was a drake etc... and then translations will have diluted or changed the real words and it's down to the translators own knowledge and interpretation of such creatures

I see it as chinese whispers but done over centuries and the story will have been changed so much it's unrecognisable

i think that all of these creatures are covered by the Draconis genre but they are all sub species (were they to exist)
