Bones don't biodegrade - at least not within the time frame we're looking at (the fact that bones of species that existed before dinosaurs have been discovered, kind of proves that). If human depictations and accounts of dragons are evidence then we must assume that if they existed (or still exist), they existed for some time after humans evolved. So unless, as Lex suggested, there is some other factor such as a chemical that is found within the dragon or where dragon corpses were in particular, then their bones wouldn't biodegrade that fast.
Cartilage is biodegradeable, but I believe it is also denser and heavier and more flexible, and I can't really imagine cartilage in the wings supporting a dragon in flight.
In a lot of theories about how dragons could fly (and breathe fire) involve calcium. Peter thingyinson proposed that dragons ate limestone to get it, but why couldn't it come from dragons munching the bones of their dead auntie Marjorie ( and prey of course)?
Total speculation but funny to think about.
BTW, Shadow, I'm curious about what you said "But of course after death or when somethings not attached the nerve endings ie out and thus they bio-degrade..." could you explain?

its only relevant in dragons..i forgot to elaborate that...
O.k...you see a dragon nervous system is different to other creatures..we can move anything on our bodies with a thought scales teeth you name it...
Anyway within a dragon the nervous system acts as what prevents a dragon appendage from biodegrading otherwise a dragon would fall apart and be useless...
So when the nerve endings cease functioning the dragon's scale, bone or whatver the hell it is biodegrades at an incredible rate...
Thats the best scientific description I can give..the mystical one is far less believable...

I can't really see how that is possible... how could a nervous system prevent anything from biodegrading? Surely it would be down to how the bone structure is built up. I dunno, maybe something in the bones that doesn't degrade until met with certain conditions that aren't met until they die?

I suppose you're right, dragons are surrounded by mystery all the time, I suppose we'll never know for sure about whether dragons existed or not. Maybe they do, maybe they came from another world? Maybe we will see some someday.

I guess it's the mystery that makes them so fascinating.
I suppose its all about having faith in your own believes.

Of course, and this forum is all about discussing your beliefs remember, not for arguing which one of you is right or wrong, because we don't know the truth.

TDS, can you just elaborate again slightly, on your dragon presence? You beleive that you were a dragon in a past life, I have no idea what to belive on things like this, but I keep an open mind, so can you explain how you know you were? And other info on your, almost other self?
