How do you all think that a dragon would fare in todays world? Where we have bombs and missiles and all this weaponry that could take down a lot of dragons.
I think that dragons would become more furtive creatures faced with todays problems. They may even become scared of humanity, it would certainly be interesting.

Interesting it took 25 arrows to bring me down!!
And i only died because i broke my back, wings and neck falling down a cliff...
Bombs would have ripped me apart...although it would have been a quicker death than what awaited me back then...

I think dragons would have to adapt to live amongst human instead of fighting them..
Perhaps if the humans wouldnt hunt them if the dragons protected them or something... although it isn't easy to imagine humans and dragons living in harmony it could work...

Although I suppose nowadays the dragons could still cause havoc before being brought down. Humans are so dependant on the fact that life is perfect, and there is never anything immediately threatening their lives that if a dragon started hunting in say the city of London, there would be absoloute pandemoneum. Ok so the military could take it down most probably, however think about it, a dragon could fly and swoop in, taking out fighter jets and the like. Alright missiles would do damage, but that would bring so many other problems. It's an interesting thought really, how dragons from these myths would cope and how the world would react. However I doubt we will ever find out. Unless of course we find out that dragons do exist. For all we know, if they do, them and humans could live harmoneously, yet knowing the human race that is impossible.

I think it very much depends on which dragons we are looking at. The age old questions, IF dragons were around would they be sentient or animalistic comes into play.
If they were animalstic creatures then humans, although physically inferior) would likely hunt dragons to near extinction.
If dragons were sentient it is a completely different story. I expect there would be wars and mass death but ultimatly i think the dragons would tolerate us and we would look on the dragons as superior beings.
Thats just my opinion.

But however, if humans looked on them as superior beings, then they would grow envious, that's the way the human race works, they can't stand anything that is better than it, and must destroy it. Therefore if dragons presented themselves as superior beings they would be destroyed by the nevious human race.

If dragons were sentient then there is a very real possibility the humans would be unable to destroy dragons. And would have to adapt or share the world we live in.

I suppose to a certain extent that is true. However the arsenal that humanity has today would easily defeat even the most powerful of dragons. Think about it, dragons are depicted as having skin that is tough enough to stop arrows. Although I highly doubt they could stop bullets or missiles.

Your forgetting that if dragons were sentient they too would likely have the ability to adapt and create.
Therefore who knows what weapons or armours they would have.

Come on guys, even if the dragons were benevolent and living harmoniously with humans, humans would not just tolerate them and share the world. Humanity doesn't share the world with anything, at least not in the societies we live in today. Humans want to have complete control over their surroundings. As you say Haydena, it makes people feel safe. If people are unable to manipulate and use a creature to their own needs, they destroy it. What do you think happened to the bears and wolves in Britain?
Sorry to be grim...

Had dragons existed and become sentient they would be anatomically superior to us. Were they to invent bigger guns and better technologies then perhaps our mentality would have to adapt to one of a more submissive nature or we would becomne extinct

... except we have had other creatures that have been anatomically superior to us.
I'm trying to think of any that humans have chosen to live in harmony with... *thinks hard until his head hurts*
nope, still can't think of any... we hunt/destroy/capture them all, and not just for food

None of those have been sentient or use tools to make their lives easier nor do they create weapons.
We have never had a race able to beat us in war before, were the dragons able to time and time again, our attitude may change

More than likely you humans would try to kill us dragons off regardless of if we harmed you or not...either that or you'd experiment on us..*shudders*
